Project Description

Following international advertisements, CGR together with a local Puerto Rican consultant, was appointed by the Puerto Rico Ports Authority to undertake the design of a major new container and general cargo terminal in San Juan, the main port and capital of the country.

As the first part of this project, CGR is currently undertaking a Feasibility Study and Environmental Audit.  This work involves a review of previous Master Plans, analysis of cargo trends and ship size trends, leading to the planning of the terminal site.

The site is located on an old US Navy base and there are environmental concerns regarding contamination of the site, which is being addressed in the study by sampling and testing.

The proposed terminal involves a new wharf 800m long, and the development of approximately 48.5 ha of terminal yard area.
