Project Description

A new freezer and loading dock, as well as a refurbishment to existing cold rooms,  at the existing Cold Storage complex at Hamilton was designed and documented by CGR. The project involved a 30,000m3 freezer, 3,500m3 loading dock, two service buildings and a 470m2 office and amenities building. The particular requirements of the project involved minimising the impact on the adjacent operational cold store.

The site geology indicated significant depths of marine clay that would settle under the long term building loads. The site was preloaded and the subsequent settlement monitored over time to ensure that all significant settlement had taken place prior to construction.

Cullen Grummitt & Roe was responsible for all civil and structural design, full time site services as well as total project management including sub-consultant, time and financial control.
