Wharf Inspection and Upgrade, Unloading Facility, Pinkenba

Project Description

Moreton Tug & Barge operate an unloading facility at Pinkenba. The main unloading structure is a timber wharf designed by Cullen Grummitt & Roe in the early 1960`s. Due to the need for new and heavier equipment to be operated on the wharf, CGR was requested to carry out an inspection of the existing facilities.

CGR completed a detailed structural survey of the existing site. This facility includes the main timber wharf and two berthing/mooring dolphins. The investigation included a review of the timber piles and their protective concrete casing, timber headstocks, timber girders and concrete slabs.

Following this investigation CGR prepared and submitted an inspection report and proposal for the upgrade of the main structure.
