Project Description

The Brisbane City Council required maintenance and upgrading to meet stringent safety requirements at three ferry terminals on the Brisbane River. The steel pontoons at River Plaza and Merthyr Road were redesigned with safer deck layouts and streamlining structures were added to the ends to reduce suction eddies along the face of the pontoons. The existing pontoon at the Norman Park ferry terminal was replaced with a new pontoon to meet the safety requirements. Two terminals required new disabled access paths.

Cullen Grummitt & Roe was responsible for the design of the streamlining structures, layout of deck components, stability calculations, cost estimating and construction supervision of the three terminals.
