Project Description
The West Swanson dock container facility included two berths on the dock, comprising a combination of straddle carrier/quay crane and ITV/quay crane handling operations.
Cullen Grummitt & Roe was commissioned to carry out master planning of the facility for future development, allowing for future expansion and for the installation of a third berth with the flexibility of either hybrid or ro-ro operation. After agreement of the proposed development plans, CGR was commissioned for the detailed design of the pavements and associated electrical and other services.
The first stage of this development was the extension of the northern container park to cater for an additional 936 ground slots and reefers. The second stage involved the construction of ro-ro facilities, office building, empty container park and major extensions to the pavement area.
Following completion of the design, Cullen Grummitt & Roe was responsible for the project management and site supervision of these works.
