Project Description
The Queen Elizabeth Quay at the Port of Colombo, Sri Lanka was tendered for privatisation. Cullen Grummitt & Roe, as part of our client’s tender team, prepared the civil engineering aspect of the privatisation tender submission including data collection, master planning, feasibility design, cost estimates and development staging. Our client, which subsequently change it’s name to South Asia Gateway Terminals (SAGT), was awarded the tender.
The development of the Queen Elizabeth Quay (QEQ) includes reclamation of 9.0 hectares of land, a 940m long container wharf, a 180m passenger wharf, rehabilitation of pavements and services on the existing 12.7 hectare QEQ site, new pavements on the reclamation area, all terminal buildings including a five storey administration building, workshop, customs verification building, gatehouses, amenities and canteen, ocean reclamation and revetment to form a truck queuing area at the terminal entry.
CGR completed the detailed design and tender assessment of the works including the collection of design information, commissioning the necessary investigations including topographic surveys and geotechnical investigations, negotiations with the Sri Lanka Port Authority and other statutory bodies.
The terminal has been successful in operation for several years.
