South Harbour, Manila

Project Description

The project involved major and extensive upgrading of the South Harbour of the Port of Manila. This work followed on from work done by Cullen Grummitt & Roe in 1991 on Pier 3, South Harbour, and with a change of ownership and emphasis, the focus of development moved to Pier 5, South Harbour.

The work included:

(1)    Container Park CY-01 Extension and Upgrade:

A 4 hectare container park to handle containers from Pier 5.

(2)    Redevelopment of Pier 5:

         A 256 metre long x 50 metre wide extension to Pier 5.

Cullen Grummitt & Roe undertook the economic and technical feasibility study followed by design and documentation of the Pier 5 extension and the CY01 Container Park extension and upgrade. The CY-01Container Park extension finished in 1995. The Pier 5 extension and CY-01 Container Park upgrade were completed in 1997.

Cullen Grummitt & Roe provided a full range of services including design and documentation, the establishment of an office in Manila and project management and supervision of the construction.
