Maputo Port, Mozambique

Project Description

When Maputo Port, Mozambique was purchased by our client, there was a requirement for the port facility to be rehabilitated and upgraded into a modern and efficient container terminal.

Rehabilitation and upgrade works included:

  • Wharf – sheet pile wall, piles, coping beam, crane rails and fenders
  • Container yard – paving and drainage
  • Associated services – lighting, water, electrical, communication, and sewerage
  • Access road and rail system

In the initial stage of the project, Cullen Grummitt & Roe carried out an inspection of the existing terminal and associated facilities for our client. A condition report on the wharf structure, terminal yard and existing facilities was provided with recommendations on appropriate methods and procedures to rehabilitate and upgrade the wharf and terminal.

Future works included the detailed design of the required rehabilitation and upgrade work, a cost estimation of the program for development of the rehabilitation and upgrade works, tender documentation and possibly site supervision.

To date, Cullen Grummitt & Roe has provided advice on rehabilitation of the crane rail fastening system and sheet pile wall.
