CGR was commissioned by GMP to undertake preliminary investigations into the construction of a new rear crane beam at Terminal Europe in Le Havre, France. GMP had procured two new gantry cranes for the neighbouring Terminal Americas site. In order to allow the commissioning of these new cranes, two of the older gantry cranes from Terminal Americas needed to be relocated to Terminal Europe. As the rail gauge at Terminal Americas was 21.5m compared with 15m at Terminal Europe, a new rear crane beam was required to be installed at Terminal Europe to allow the operation of the relocated cranes.
