Port Mohammed Bin Qasim is located just to the east of Karachi on the Arabian Sea. Qasim International Container Terminal (QICT) participated in the feasibility study and privatisation tender of the port. The project involved the conversion of an existing caisson wharf structure and general cargo terminal into a modern container terminal. Cullen Grummitt Roe carried out master planning, evaluation of the site, development costings and staging for the tender. QICT was awarded the concession.

The Port Qasim Authority entered into a contract with Qasim International Container Terminal Pakistan Limited (QICT) to develop a container terminal on Berths 5 to 7 at Port Qasim, Pakistan.
The contract included the restoration of night navigational capability to the port. This involved installing and/or replacing sufficient buoys, beacons and lights in the approach channels and turning basins to Port Qasim to enable safe and reliable navigation for container vessels 24 hours a day.
